| Quick Overview |
The Map View in the Availability section allows you to visually explore all published availabilities across locations using an interactive map.
This view helps you quickly understand how the opportunities appear to the schools searching for placements.
The map dynamically updates as you zoom, search, or apply filters, making it easier to track opportunities across different locations.
You can also open detailed availability information directly from the map or from the All Opportunities panel, helping you review requests, availability details, and program information without leaving the screen.

Accessing Map View
To access the map view:
- Navigate to Availability from the left navigation menu.
- Select the Map View tab from the top of the screen.
The screen displays two main sections:
- All Opportunities panel on the left
- Interactive map on the right
Both sections remain synchronised, meaning the opportunities displayed on the map are the same ones listed in the panel.
Search and Filter Options
The Map View includes several filters that help you narrow down the availabilities displayed on the map.
Search by Location or Address
Use the search bar to quickly locate availabilities by location or address.
| Tip: You must type at least three characters before search results appear. |
Discipline & Specialisation Filter
This filter allows you to narrow opportunities by discipline.
- Select one or more disciplines.
- When a discipline is selected, its specialisations are automatically selected.
- You can expand the discipline to manually select or deselect specific specialisations.
This is a multi-select filter, allowing multiple disciplines and specialisations.
State Filter
Use the State filter to view opportunities within a specific state.
When a state is selected:
- The state border is highlighted on the map
- Only opportunities within that state are displayed
- The All-Opportunities panel updates accordingly
This is a single-select filter.
This helps you quickly focus on opportunities in a particular region.
Program Filter
The Program filter allows you to filter opportunities by program type.
Available options include:
- Graduate
- PhD
- Post-Licensure
- Pre-Licensure
- Undergraduate
Some program categories, such as Pre-Licensure and Post-Licensure, include additional sub-program options that can be selected individually.
Experience Type Filter
This filter allows you to choose between:
- Individual opportunities
- Group opportunities
Additional Filters
Click Add Filter to access additional filtering options:
- Due Date
- Start and End Date
These filters help refine opportunities based on availability timelines.
Reset Filters
If no opportunities appear or the results seem limited, click Reset Filters to remove all applied filters and return to the full dataset.
Creating New Availabilities
At the top-right corner of the screen, you will see the Add Availability button.
From here you can:
- Create a single availability
- Create multiple availabilities in bulk
You can also access Bulk Creation History to review previously created bulk availabilities.
Note: Refer to the Creating Availabilities (Setting up opportunities for student placements) guide for detailed steps on creating single and bulk availabilities.
Understanding the Interactive Map
The Map View displays opportunities using an interactive geographic interface.
Key behaviours include:
Dynamic Availability Counts
When viewing the full map, you will see cluster pins representing groups of opportunities.
Each green circle displays the number of availabilities in that region.
Zooming the Map
You can zoom in or out using:
- The + and − controls on the map
- Your mouse scroll wheel
- Your trackpad gestures
As you zoom closer, large clusters break down into individual location pins, which also display the number of availabilities at each location.
Map Synchronization
The map and the opportunity list work together.
When you:
- Zoom
- Pan
- Apply filters
- Search
The All-Opportunities panel updates automatically to reflect only the availabilities currently visible on the map.
Viewing All Opportunities
If you have zoomed into a specific region, you can click View All on the map banner to return to the full map view showing all opportunities.

- If multiple availabilities exist at that location, you can navigate between them using the arrow controls.
The card displays key information, the same as above.
Click View Details to open the same Availability Details panel.

Here you can review complete information about the opportunity.
